Today is a big day for Australia, it is the 150th year of the Melbourne Cup Race.
It is the biggest horse race of the year for Australia and one of the most prestigious horse races the world has. As the name suggests it is run in Melbourne every year at this time.
I thought today, I would give you all an idea of what it is like to be in Australia on Melbourne Cup Day. The actual race is run at 3:00pm, but throughout the day there are many other races taking …

When you look out into the night sky and see thousands of twinkling stars have you ever tried to contemplate just how massive the Universe we are sitting in is? I find thinking about Space to be an absolute spin out, so many things are bigger than we could ever truly contemplate.
For example to think that the light we are seeing shining from some of those stars is probably hundreds of thousands of years old and that the star that originally shone that light could now not even exist!
I’m getting …

I found this video the other day on youtube and got the giggles, it’s quite a long video but I couldn’t stop watching.
It is simply guys being guys!
what was going through my head before I watched it was, how did they figure out this could become a game?
I mean, someone had to do it first to discover that it would be a test of skill and determination.
I find the thought funny that somewhere on this Earth at sometime, someone maybe in their garage, office or even living room discovered this …

How much do we actually know about our very own earth?
We can now see light years into Space, we can build buildings that are only just short of 1km tall, we have created a platform where any person can contact any other person instantly no matter where they are in the world, we have created Yachts that sail faster than the wind and pieces of shaped metal weighing hundreds of tons, that can not only fly through the air but fly almost halfway around the world without stopping.
I feel as …

To another Parent/Child relationship now, over the last few days it has been a bit of a theme.
When I saw this video, I realised after a minute or so that I was grinning from ear to ear. It is such a cute little video…
At the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), a little Squirrel had a problem. He needed help from his Squirrel Elder, but there was only so much that his Squirrel Guardian could do to help, so the friendly UCLA students decided it was time they …

I was told by a friend yesterday to check out this little rapper called ‘Lil’ P-Nut’ on youtube.
Lil’ P-Nut has been rapping since he was 4 years old, according to him his Father taught him to rap by teaching him Maths! (Another amazing Father/Son relationship.)
He is now 7 years old and over the past 3 years Lil’ P-Nut has been improving on his skills so much that he now has his own album and fast growing fan base.
He seems like a centred, polite and charismatic lil’ man who has great …

When growing up our family always had pets.
In my early years I grew up in a slightly more rural setting than most so my first pet wasn’t your typical Budgie or Rabbit.
My first pet was a little leaping Lamb!
This lamb was aptly named, ‘Lambie Boots’
This is because when a lamb first starts to grow its wooly sheep fleece the fleece first starts on their legs, making them look like they are bouncing around the place with little Ugg boots on.
Hence the name ‘Lamby Boots’!
I don’t remember everything about the Lamby …

Earlier today, Super Typhoon Megi made landfall in the Philippines. It is apparent that the typhoon is bringing severe storms and floods to the area (see information of the storm on ABC NEWS ). Many Filipino people will be affected by this – and some may lose their homes.
To those affected, I am sending out my best thoughts and well wishes.
I want to make you aware of this situation, as some one you know may have been affected by this severe weather. If you have a spare minute today send …

Last weekend I made a traditional Australian Bush Meal called Damper.
Janet Clarkson at www.leadedgejournal.com.au describes Damper as…
“The very earliest form of bread – made by humans since long, long before recorded history – was an unleavened mass of grain and water cooked in flat cakes on hot hearthstones, or in lumps in the hot ashes. It went by many different names, but was no different, essentially, from what we in Australia call “damper”.”
So if you are keen to learn how to make this Bush meal have a look at my …
