When you go to see a live performance or show it in some ways is an illusion. If it all goes to plan you will see only performers and maybe just the head and waving arms of the Conductor.
However throughout the show, set pieces move across the stage seamlessly, banners fly up and down from behind the proscenium arch and then there’s that voice, the voice that can be heard over the theatres P.A system just before the curtain rises exclaiming how phone calls are not cool after a show …

I feel a bit strange tonight, my family have been quite badly affected by the Christchurch Earthquake. We are blessed that no-one in our family has lost their life. So to those who have, my deepest condolences.
Two and a half weeks ago members of my family saw their houses, businesses, personal belongings and their city literally crumble in front of their eyes. A devastating site.
Hearing what they are going through at this time is incredibly sobering. So to see another part of the world also hit by a …

A Trip to the Zoo
Sydney has some stunning views, but none as good as the view from Taronga Zoo. Perched up on a hill in the suburb of Mosman this zoo looks over the Sydney harbour and straight up to its famous icons, The Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Sydney Opera House.
But this Zoo is not just stunning in its placement, with its winding leafy paths and its free roaming local wildlife it is stunning in its layout and design as well.
There are hundreds of interesting animals who live at …

Who Is William Ury?
Here is part of his bio that is put up on Ted.com…
‘Over the last 30 years, Ury has served as a negotiation adviser and mediator in conflicts ranging from corporate mergers to wildcat strikes in a Kentucky coal mine to ethnic wars in the Middle East, the Balkans, and the former Soviet Union. With former president Jimmy Carter, he co- founded the International Negotiation Network, a non-governmental body seeking to end civil wars around the world. I was watching the news tonight and saw some pretty dramatic scenes of what is happening around the world at the moment.
I want to send out my thoughts to all people going through a tough time. I found a poem on the net tonight and it made me smile, so I thought I would read it out. If it makes even one other person smile that might just be a good thing. So here it is…

How can you test Awareness?
So maybe you think that the last video was just a magic trick and that I should stop thinking so deeply about this topic.
Well then, let’s try another angle. Let’s test our awareness.
Now if you are aware of everything, you miss out on nothing. However to us, it seems like we are aware of everything, we are not aware of what we are missing out on noticing. So therefore to us, what we are not aware of doesn’t actually exist.
But how come when police ask witnesses …

How perceptive ARE you?
A man I have been aware of for a few years now is Richard Wiseman. A fascinating man, he started out as a Magician then formed a detailed interest in psychology so detailed he completed a PHD in it.
The now Prof Wiseman has established an international reputation for his research into unusual areas of psychology, including deception and luck. He now currently holds Britain’s only Professorship in the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. He has written over 60 academic articles and several books, including …

‘Making Music is my thing with words and notes and keys and strings.
So tap you toes or strum a beat cause making music is so neat!’
A little quote from my Making Music segment in Hi-5 Series 11.
To get very deep very quickly, music does something to me that nothing else does. I feel the right music at the right time can strike a chord very deep down in your emotional ocean and resonate out to the rest of your being in an instant. To millions of people around the world, …

My Latin Teacher at school used to tell us all the time…
“Boys, in your lives you must grow a thirst for knowledge.”
Now you hear lines like this you hear in your life almost everyday. But the lines like this, that prove to be most true are the lines that years later still pop into your head.
I guess if you are still reminded of this line and it is relevant for you even years later, that line is no longer just a ‘line’ but it then claims the title of a …

Soldiers have a full on job that is for sure, I have seen a few documentaries on the Discovery Channel about their grueling training structures. To be a Soldier I think you would have to be very disciplined not to mention incredibly fit. My hat goes off to them that’s for sure.
Check out these Soldiers…
