Just like OkGo, it is yet another example of a Youtube video rocketing a band to Stardom internationally.
AWOLNATION, thanks to Jeb Corliss and also maybe Red Bull, using their track in this clip has placed them on the radar screen not just in America but now all over the world.
Another example to Musicians all around the world, to say that there are many ways to approach this industry.

The track fits Corliss’s jump like a well working wing-suit.

I feel this video is going to be popular for a very long time thanks to the fear deprived Corliss, this song is going to get played over and over and over again.

Congrats Jeb Corliss for surviving this jump and also AWOLNATION for an awesome track.

Special in the way that there wouldn’t be many places in the world where such a melting pot of cultures collide in such a small geographical place.
Not surprising I guess, given it’s place on the world map but also it’s constant history of international trade.

That’s not to say that we don’t have enough cultural cross over in Australia, we do. It’s just that the Australian nation lives on the worlds biggest island thousands of kilometers wide and Singapore is probably one of the smallest island nations in which I can catch a taxi from one side to the other and probably pay less than $80.00 Sing. So the cultural crossovers here feel far more dramatic.

I love when cultures meld together. Meld together to form fusions, fusions of food, fusions of architecture, fusions of music.

They say music is the international language, every culture in the world has a form of it.

Here is a piece of music that has been dear to my heart for years now. I feel it is a bit like a musical version of Singapore, a fusion of the music from Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn (Nephew of one of the best Pakistani musicians of all time, Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn.)

Well, it’s getting even bigger now that more and more kids in the area are finding out where I live!

This year, Halloween started for me at exactly ten minutes after school finished. A car load of little fans came running up to me and from then on it was non stop.

Last year I went through well over $150.00 worth of candy and this year although I lowered the standard of the candy purchased, I ended up giving out well over 1000 pieces and that was making sure each child only took one piece. There is no point going back inside your house as it will only be 10 seconds before the next group knock.

Now my whole street gets involved in this strange festival/tradition. So that meant there was a heap of Candy to collect and some proud children by the time they got to me had a HEAP of candy.

A ‘heap’ seems to be the aim for some reason.

Now kids I ask you this…

What would you do if in the morning after Halloween you awoke to find that Mum and Dad had eaten your well earned candy?

How would you feel?

Well thanks to Jimmy Kimmel, he got parents from all over America to pretend that they had done just that, eaten their child’s hard earned bag of candy.

Yip, it takes many hands to make a live show work.
Producers, Stage Managers, Costume makers, Set Designers, Lighting Operators, Directors, Publicists, Sound Operators, Front of House Staff…
The list goes on and on and on.

To put on a live performance really is a team effort and as a professional performer myself, that is the only way to view it.

Dancers remind yourself next time you find yourself dancing in front of thousands of people in a pink unitard and then realise that you are the only one dressed like that, maybe being rude to the Costume department wasn’t a good idea.

Singers, always remember that a sound operator can just press the ‘off’ button on your microphone if you disrespect them as an integral part in the production team.

Or Actors, the Lighting operator that you constantly ignore can make that spotlight shine on your understudy in ‘your’ scene at the lightest flick of a switch.

But the same message can be said to Directors or Producers too, they are also just another player on the live performance football field.
If they don’t ever pass the ball or disrespect their other team members they might start finding weird things start to happen also.

Of course nearly all professionals wouldn’t play out their revenge on the ‘field’ as such, however if you push people enough…?

Cheeky Cheerleaders!

Yip that’s it.

All over the world at the moment, cheerleaders are launching vicious attacks on their teams’ poor unsuspecting Mascot. Horrid.

Realising this, a very frustrated mascot leader, the Monarch of all Team Mascots ‘Morris‘ as he wishes to be called, has recently commissioned another type of Team Mascot to be created.

Now this team mascot will still be vulnerable to the odd game-watching carer, the cheeky little solo stair or even the fast running tackling uncle. But he wont be vulnerable to anymore cheerleading jeering.

Globally at the moment, I’m sure we’re all aware there is a real sense of financial insecurity. The poor leader of Greece over the last few days, has had to make decisions/plans to prevent what seems like the complete destruction of the Euro dollar. HEAVY!
Ever since that awful time in late 2008 when the financial markets around the world crashed, people have had to seriously change the way they, not only think about money but the implications that can happen when comparatively few individuals in a complete other side of the world get a little too greedy.

The 2008 market crash in the United States led to 10,000,000 people in China losing their jobs, hundreds of thousands more around the world losing theirs also. For many young families around the globe this is a worrying time financially.

Now we can ‘title’ this time, turn it into an acronym ‘GFC’, we can whinge and moan about what has happened or we can follow this baby’s lead.

Watch this little girls reaction to her Dad’s recently arrived job rejection letter.

I guess for the father of a very young child, receiving a job rejection letter like the one in this clip, could be more than enough reason to stress.

As you can easily pick I have been pretty much non-existant on my blog over the past months.

Since my last post I have toured Australia with Hi-5′s Turn the Music Up. Met thousands of little fans all across this massive country and crashed many an RC Jet into the ground. It has been very busy but a heap of fun.

I have many cool things coming up on the net. I had hoped my new 142pm website would be up by now but it has proven to be a little more complicated than first thought. I have been really picky with it so I can get it just right, however it will be up and running soon.

I also have some Australian Artists that I am going to introduce you all to. I have been wanting to do this for a while but because of my absence from this place i thought it best to wait until I could really dedicate some good time to it.

But before I go I want to hear how everyone is. Has anyone got news or a cool thing to share? Anything you want my help with? Anything at all fire it this way.

Two and a half weeks ago members of my family saw their houses, businesses, personal belongings and their city literally crumble in front of their eyes. A devastating site.

Hearing what they are going through at this time is incredibly sobering. So to see another part of the world also hit by a similar Natural Disaster only days after, I find it very hard to digest.

The scenes coming out of Japan at the moment are truly shocking. My prayers and thoughts are with the Japanese people but also anyone who has loved ones affected.

Within the last few months there have been horrific Floods, Landslides, Bush Fires, Tsunami’s, Cyclones,Earthquakes and many more.

So, today I have been feeling a bit flat. As I am sure many of us have been.

I spent time with a good friend of mine this afternoon. We caught up, played a bit of guitar and also shared our recent finds on Youtube.

After showing him my favourite recent finds, he told me he had been into watching the Soul Train Line. Puzzled, I asked What’s that?

He told me that it’s part of a show from the Seventies, where people simply dance down a line and show off their particular dance skills or groove.

I then asked, why?

He said, because it just makes me smile.

That was more than enough justification for me.

So if you are feeling a little flat today and need a little lift watch this, it worked for me…
