The time was 5:30pm, the GPS was set and off we drove on our adventure to see our friend Matthew Van Hoek in his school concert.
You may already know Matthew, he was my team-mate for the 14km run I did a little over a month ago at the 2010 City2Surf. Together we raised almost $2,000 for a charity that is special to both of us The Starlight Foundation.

On the 8th of August I am running the 14km Sun-Herald City2Surf. But I am not doing it alone, I am in a team. There are two of us. I guess you could say we are team ‘Matthew and Tim’. In this team we both have our designated positions. I am in charge of the running side of things and Matthew is the ‘general morale and encouragement officer’. Both roles are very important to achieving a good run in the City2Surf.

HI-5 star Tim Maddren has thousands of young fans, but he will have one very special supporter cheering him on in The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac.
Maddren has chosen to run in the City2Surf on August 8 for a child who can’t – Matthew Van Hoek, 11, of Bonnyrigg, who has a neuromuscular disease and uses a wheelchair.
